Playing as Arnold, you will go through locations straight from the movie, using weapons such as pistols, shotguns, and the ever-pleasant Mini-Gun to thwart those that would do John Connor (or you) harm. This is a side-scrolling shooter with some driving levels presented in between regular levels. During your mission you must also destroy a new form of microchip technology (based on the T-800 chip) that will eventually enable machines to take over the world, rescue John's mother Sarah from a mental institution, and ultimately kill the T-1000. Some levels feature optional objectives in addition to reaching the exit, such as freeing hostages or destroying security cameras.Following the basic plot line of the feature film, you have been sent back in time to protect the future savior of humanity, John Connor from being assassinated by a T-1000 Terminator. Each level ends with a boss battle, featuring Terminators, heavy tanks and RoboCop's famous adversaries ED-209 and Cain (also known as RoboCop 2). Enemies in present-day Detroit include mainly street hooligans and other criminal elements, while the future is, of course, populated by deadly machines: Terminators, robotic dogs and spiders, and many automated weapons. The game is split evenly between present and future levels. Although all weapons have unlimited ammunition, only two can be carried at a time and, if killed, the currently equipped weapon is lost. RoboCop starts the game with a basic pistol, but other weapons can be found, such as grenade launchers and flamethrowers, laser guns, self-guided missiles and others. Many enemies stand in RoboCop's way and must be destroyed using 8 different weapons. The game is a platformer with strong shooting elements and consists of 10 levels. Years later, in a post-apocalyptic future, RoboCop is reactivated and must help the human resistance by attacking and defeating Skynet once and for all. By tapping into the computer network, he becomes the seed from which the malevolent Skynet grows. The player controls RoboCop, who during his police work on the streets of Detroit falls into a trap of Terminators sent from the future. RoboCop versus The Terminator on Sega systems is only loosely based on the comic. The crossover of the two famous 80's cyborgs in the Dark Horse comic book led to several game adaptations.
